Tommy Orange
Biography
Tommy Orange is the New York Times bestselling author of There There (Knopf), winner of the 2018 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. There There was deemed a Best Book of the Year by The New York Times and won the John Leonard Award for Best First Book and the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel. There There was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. His second novel, Wandering Stars, was published by Knopf in February 2024; it was longlisted for the Booker Prize and won the Aspen Words Literary Prize. He is currently finishing his third novel, Pretendian (Knopf). He is a 2025 MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant winner. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Orange is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma.
