Reuel K. Wilson is the author of The Literary Travelogue and co-author of Poland’s Caribbean Tragedy. He is currently working on a book, Edmund Wilson and Mary McCarthy on Cape Cod, from which the essay in this issue is taken. Another selection appeared recently in Paris Review.
