Malcolm Cowley

Malcom Cowley was the author, editor, or translator of more than fifty books and is considered one of the most significant literary critics of the twentieth century. He is particularly well known for three critical works: Exile’s Return (1934),The Literary Situation (1954), and A Second Flowering: Works and Days of the Lost Generation (1973). He edited, arranged, and introduced The Portable Faulkner (1946), which played an essential role in the critical reevaluation of William Faulkner. His books of poetry include Blue Juniata (1929), which was revised and expanded as Blue Juniata: Collected Poems (1968).
