Allan Gurganus
Biography
Allan Gurganus’s newest work of fiction is Local Souls (Liveright, 2013). Winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, Gurganus is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His other books are The Practical Heart (2001), Plays Well With Others (1997), White People (1990), and Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All (1989), all from Knopf. He lives in his native North Carolina.
