Reinhold Niebuhr

Reinhold Niebuhr was a theologian, philosopher, and pastor. In the 1930s, Niebuhr abandoned his pacifist convictions, becoming a key voice in galvanizing Christian support of militant opposition to Hitler’s dictatorship. His numerous books over the course of a four-decade-long career engaged with intersections of social criticism, Protestant theology, and political activism.
